Cheap Aveeno Sunscreen at Target

This I found thanks to Jill Cataldo.

Aveeno Naturals items are on sale at Target, and if you buy two items, you'll get a $10 gift card.

Some of the sunscreen is $10 (some are a little bit more).  I like the spray sunscreen, so I nabbed two of these.  I don't normally buy Aveeno because it's pricey and the SPF is super high for me, but I do burn easily and I hang out with a lot of my little munchkins.  So it'll be good for the first time in the sun coverage and for any of my godkids/cousins who come to the beach with me.

Anyway...there was a $3 off 2-Aveeno Naturals products in the Smart Source from 3/27 and 4/17.  I only clipped one and must have donated the other, otherwise, I would have tried to do this deal twice.  you stack this $3 off coupon with the $1 coupon from the Target website.

You end up paying $16 for both sunscreens, but get $10 back in a gift card.

So you're really only paying $6 for both!

I had a little shopping driving adventure today.....why?  Well, it's because I didn't learn about the freebies early enough, so I'm a day behind which means that all the good couponers had already gotten to the goodies.

I thought I was going to have to wait until later in the week when the stores restocked, but I thankfully have a slew of walgreens and CVS stores on one patch of my drive.  I found almost everything I was looking for.

Okay, so what are the goodies?  Let me first give the kudos to JillCataldo.com and Mashupmom.com for the tips.

CVS

• I mentioned the free toothpaste in my previous post.  With the coupons I had in my stash, I actually made money in that transaction.  I paid $4.04 for 2 tubes of toothpaste, but got back $5.58 to spend on my next order!  So I made $1.54 in that transaction.
• Ivory 3-pack bars are currently $0.99...I had 3-$1 coupons from the Proctor & Gamble coupon book this weekend (yes, I bought three papers this weekend because it was FULL of coupons).  So what did I have to pay at the end...basically just the tax.  My total for the (3)3-pack Ivory bars....$0.26!  Note:  I saw these same ivory bar packs for $0.95 at my Target, so if you're out of luck at CVS, try there!

So my total spent at CVS for all these goodies...2 tubes of toothpastes and 3(3)-pack Ivory bars.....I was paid $1.28 to take these very useful items out of the store and into my teeny stockpile :)

Walgreens

So this isn't very eco-friendly, but apparently shaving razors go on sale pretty regularly (often for free), so I've been told to keep an eye out for deals when you can get them for free.  This week, the deal was on disposable Noxzema 4-pack razors.  They are on sale for $3.99, but you get a $3 Register Rewards for each purchase.  Meaning, they "in theory" only cost $0.99 because you'll have $3 to spend on your next order.  In this weekend's RedPlum insert (yup, the paper I had multiple copies of), there was $2.00 off coupon which would make this purchase free!

I kinda messed up on this one and didn't make as much as I could.  I actually tried buying two razors at once with the two coupons and I expected to get $6 in Register Rewards.  I only got $3 back :(  So either the machine was out of paper, or you can only get one Register Reward per transaction.  So I need to investigate that one a bit.

So rather then getting them all for free, I paid $7.76 for all three, but got back $6 in Register Rewards total.  So I really only paid $1.76 for the razors.

Target

I didn't get the freebie I was looking for here because they were out of stock. There is still a deal on Nivea body wash at most stores ($3.04) that I took advantage of last week.  There is a $3 off coupon on the Target website, which means that you'll only pay $0.04 for it!  I wasn't lucky to find it last week at my local Target and instead found it at the one downtown for a slightly higher price ($3.60).  I nabbed it because $0.60 for great body wash is still a deal to me!

I'll have to stalk my Target this week and see if I can get lucky enough to score another one this week!

want some free toothpaste?!

It's been quite awhile since I posted anything...and it's frankly because so many of the other national blogger's make things so easy for me to not post.

After spending an evening going over some couponing tips with a gal pal, I realized that there are still so many of my friends that are interested in learning how to coupon but don't know where to start.  So I'm going to offer a couple of tips and deals when I can.  Most of the time, I'll give credit where credit is due and refer to you other sites, but I'll do my best to offer some great deals.

An awesome deal happening right now is the "free" toothpaste at CVS.

I've put the free in quotes because you do have to pay upfront for it, but with the Extra Care Bucks received (when using your Extra Care Card), you'll pay nothing for it.

Here's the better deal though!  If you bought the Sunday paper this weekend (I actually bought more than one this weekend because there were sooo many coupons), you'll find a $0.75 off coupon for Colgate.  Which means that instead of paying $2.79 for the toothpaste, you'll actually only pay $2.04....but then you'll be paid back from CVS $2.79 for it. 

So you're actually getting paid to take toothpaste out of the store!!!

There is a limit of buying two...so if you bought two papers, you can get the deal on both tubes of toothpaste!

Expired Coupons to support our troops overseas

Now that Dominick's has updated their coupon policy much to the chagrin of us trying to super-coupon, many of us are left with a slew of expired coupons.

So what can you do with them?

Well, someone gave me a tip that military families can use them, so I started to do some digging.  Low and behold, I found a source that updates the list of places overseas that you mail your coupons to.  Looks like some bases are getting flooded (which is great), but there are others that haven't asked couponers to stop sending the coupons. 

So this weekend, I'll be updated my coupon binder and making a nice little package to mail out.

Here are the details:

• Military bases outside of the USA will accept manufacture coupons up to 6 months past their expiration date.
• They can use manufacture coupons only, no store coupons are accepted.
• You can mail your expired coupons directly to a military Family Services Center or Commissary (military base grocery store).
• When mailing packages to a military address (APO or FPO addresses), standard domestic rates apply.
• You can pick up FREE USPS mailing envelopes and boxes from any Post Office.

It's been awhile, I know!

It's been a crazy past couple of months, but I promised myself that I would be back to the couponing full-force.  I sort of fell off the wagon when I took off on vacation and bought Christmas presents (though I had bought many ahead of time due to early deals).

I'm happy to report that my debt is still going down - yay me!  I did, however, have to buy a new car and new computer - so those are now added to the total debt, but I'm concentrating my savings on the high interest credit cards that don't include the car and computer.

Anyway, if you are a Coca-Cola product fiend like me.....CVS has the best deal this week.  12-packs are $3/pack (already a good deal)....but if you buy $15 worth, you'll get $5 in Extra Care Bucks.

 So you'll basically you'll be getting 5 packs for $10!
